Was yesterday’s commotion in the Loksabha justified on the ‘solemn’ day?

November 26, 2008 has been an unfortunate day in the histroy of India. But not 26/11. Every november 26 has not been a solemn day in the history of this country as been rightly pointed out by one of the member of parliament in front of TV news camera. 26/11, on the lines of or as a copy of 9/11, is a creation of our dear media, who needs to sell some thing or other to keep itself floating, in the otherwise infalted race of news channels.

I am happy to see this Loksabha spat or commotion on page seven of the Indian Express and not on the front page. It was not a story which could be given place on the front page. The whole ‘hungama’ was a creation of news channel who got some very loud and electric ‘bytes’ of the two leaders shouting at each other in the Loksabha. It is otherwise also a good story for news channels, even if it is not a ‘solemn’ day.

There is no harm if a member of Parliament or the leader of opposition raise the issue of relief and rehabilitation on such a day. Rather it is more apt to raise this issue on this day. The leader of the house or the minister of the ruling party and the government should be ready with proper and promt replies to such questions. This anticipation is a very plain and simple fact. I do not understand why the ruling party leaders are getting so dumb?
